General Surgeon in McKinney

Dr. deVilleneuve is a General Surgeon trained in surgical operations involving most of the major organ systems of the body. These include the G.I./digestive system, endocrine system, skin/integumentary system, and vascular system. As a result of this training, he can offer advanced surgical care in the treatment of a wide range of surgical conditions.

Typical procedures performed by Surgical Associates of North Texas include hernia repairs (inguinal, umbilical, ventral, and incisional), gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy), colon resections, excisions of cysts/lipomas/other soft tissue masses, lymph node biopsies, splenectomies, thyroidectomies, and the surgical treatment of skin cancers/ugly surgery scars/non-healing surgical wounds.

Because of his training and experience in laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery, Dr. deVilleneuve can offer most of these procedures utilizing this more advanced, less invasive technology. Cholecystectomies, hernia repairs of all types, colon resections, splenectomies, and diagnostic procedures involving lysing of adhesions are all routinely completed laparoscopically, with laparoscopic hernia repairs and laparoscopic cholecystectomy being the two most common surgical procedures her .

Expert in Laparoscopic Surgery

At Surgical Associates of North Texas, our focus on laparoscopic or minimally invasive techniques is such that Dr. deVilleneuve is considered an “expert” in both laparoscopic cholecystectomies (lap chole) and laparoscopic hernia repair. A quick ‘Google’ search, however, will lead you to believe that everyone who does these types of procedures is an “expert,” so what exactly does it mean to be an “expert” in minimally invasive surgery?

Being an expert in these is defined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and by the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) as a surgeon who has successfully completed, after residency training, at least 150 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and at least 250 laparoscopic hernia repairs. Since completing his residency in 2004, Dr. deVilleneuve has performed over 1250 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and 2500 laparoscopic hernia repairs. You can see from these numbers that our focus on these advanced, minimally invasive types of procedures are such that you can feel very comfortable that when you choose us for your surgery, you are truly putting yourself in the hands of an “expert.”
